Six Flags Magic Mountain hires robot security guard who looks nothing like RoboCop

An artificial intelligence-driven guard golem with a Shakespearian name can before long be patrolling Six Flags Magic Mountain and also the close parking tons in search of scofflaws and rule breakers — however no one can confuse Roameo with RoboCop.
The new Roameo security golem can begin patrolling Magic Mountain within the next week, in step with Six Flags officers.
Roameo can operate within the Magic Mountain automobile parking space throughout park operation and within the park when in operation hours, in step with Six Flags officers.
The twelve mph autonomous golem can function a mobile version of Magic Mountain’s current stationary television security cameras. similar to the pole- and building-mounted security cameras, Roameo are going to be ready to establish trespassers in restricted areas of the Valencia park.
Roameo won’t directly answer infractions, however the larva will send word its human counterparts of trespassers in secure areas.
Among Roameo’s capabilities: Recognizing park guests UN agency don’t seem to be sporting face masks. Roameo won’t be used for COVID-19 health and safety mask compliance at Magic Mountain, in step with Six Flags officers.
The bot’s 21-inch bit screen will offer maps, wait times and alternative data. Magic Mountain can’t ensure if Roameo can provide ride wait times and park maps because the new golem still remains within the testing section.
The AI golem will hop curbs, climb hills within the rain and establish vehicles, vehicle plate numbers and other people. With extra software package, it will verify picture IDs, check body temperatures and even unlock doors.
The new Six Flags golem security guards are going to be equipped by Michigan-based Robotic help Devices (RAD). Another Roameo can begin acting at Six Flags Over American state a couple of week when the primary larva rolls out at Magic Mountain, in step with RAD officers.
RAD is in talks with FL funfair corporations concerning adding the Roameo bots, in step with the Orlando watch. filmmaker World wasn’t among the potential patrons, the watch reportable.

The imposing golem cop — that is vi foot, vi inches tall and weighs 750 pounds — comes equipped with cameras, speakers, microphones and barely screen.
Roameo doesn’t look very similar to the [*fr1] man-half golem that patrolled the crime-ridden streets of Detroit within the 1987 “RoboCop” film and ulterior sequels.
Fortune describes Roameo because the “illegitimate offspring of Wall-E and Baymax” whereas Screamscape calls the autonomous officer a “cross between a popcorn automotivet and a Google maps camera car.”

Robotic help Devices displayed a Six Flags version of Roameo throughout the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions collection in Gregorian calendar month. The Roameo at IAAPA collection 2021 in Orlando, Florida, sported a baby blue end, spiraling roller coaster track accents, Ne blue trim and a Six Flags Public Safety Department defend.

I’ve been on 12 trips in one year — these are my 10 favorite travel products

I've been on 12 trips in one year — these are my 10 favorite travel products

During the last 12 months, my husband and I have taken 12 short vacations (3-4 days on average) in France and various neighboring countries. From small cities like Amiens and Montreux to cosmopolitan capitals like Madrid and Amsterdam, we’ve tried to make everything fun and varied. On paper, 12 trips in 12 months sounds like a lot, but there were (many) reasons to take this trip. So we were fascinated by the ease of getting around Europe and the simplicity of the lifestyle associated with train travel and hiking.

But what kind of geek would I be if I didn’t take the opportunity to travel and try out all sorts of products, devices, apps, services, and features? And my experience changed a lot. What kind of writer would he be? if he didn’t report things? That’s why I’m here now to share my favorite find. These are 10 products that have completely changed the way I travel.

Tramp’s Diary

There is no trip planner like Wanderlog. Trust me, I’ve downloaded almost all of them. This application (Android, iOS, web) allows you to create trips and share them with others. Also, everyone can edit at the same time. A bit like Google Docs. Add accommodation, flights, train and bus reservations, car rentals, and then some lists (with different colors and icons) of things you usually want to see and have already decided to visit. You can create an itinerary for the places you have visited. on certain days. It also pulls location data from Google Maps, including opening hours, images, websites, and short descriptions.

If that’s not enough, Wanderlog offers all sorts of small but incredibly useful plugins. Add formatted notes anywhere or list with single bullets, bold/italic, and hyperlinks. You can assign a budget for each place you visit. The app automatically calculates the distance between two points on your route and tells you how long it will take to get from point A to point B by car, on foot or by public transport. Plus, in most cities around the world, Wanderlog offers an Explore section to view blog posts and a list of recommended places and activities on the web, which you can display on a map and list or add to your itinerary. No need to search for anything on Google or Maps. How insanely cool and completely frictionless is that?

Essentially, Wanderlog replaces Google Maps lists, Chrome bookmarks, calendar appointments, email appointments, and individual notes, saving time at every step. It has become my second brain as I plan and travel. This is vital to me now.

eSIM (Mobimatter and Airalo)

In January 2015, I landed in Las Vegas for CES at midnight on a Sunday. I took a taxi to a 24-hour Walmart about 30 minutes away and bought a SIM card. During LG’s 8am press conference, I needed to be online without relying on unreliable Wi-Fi in the conference room. Unfortunately, Walmart did not have a prepaid SIM card. So, at 3:00 am, I found myself in downtown Las Vegas, where there were no taxis and no phone lines nearby.
Dumb jet lag decisions aside, international travel has long been a problem for those of us who are always on the go, looking for stores that sell them near airports and hotels, queuing at those stores, getting SIM cards, and traveling. to other countries. – Verbalization of SMS and sites, understanding of unstable replenishment systems

Last year I discovered two sites, Mobimatter and Airalo. These two sites sell prepaid data eSIMs for almost every country in the world. Now I checked these two out to find the best deal, bought a data eSIM online before I left, “booted” it as an add-on SIM for my Pixel 6 Pro, and made sure the hotspots are set up correctly, and changed their data to that when you come to a new country. The whole process will take about 10 minutes. Clever. MobiMatter has used Airalo twice in Switzerland, once in Belgium and once in Turkey. My colleague Druv got an Airalo eSIM in the United Arab Emirates. We have nothing but good things to say about them. An absolute turning point.

Osprey Fairview and Farpoint

About a year ago, my husband and I moved from Beirut to Paris, discovering the world of train travel and short weekend trips. Until now I had never imagined myself as a traveler with a backpack that was too heavy and too uncomfortable, until I started thinking about how light and practical a backpack could be for weekend trips, much easier than carrying a suitcase to the back.

Why is travel so hard, and what could make it better?

Why is travel so hard, and what could make it better?

I haven’t taken a vacation in 10 years. Part of the reason is certainly that I’m a workaholic. On the other hand, I hate flying. I hate lines, tight seats, security, and it all seems like a waste of time.
I usually keep these feelings to myself. (Who needs to hear me complain more than ever?)
However, I read a statistic that shocked me. Air travel is always in the press, but pre-pandemic polls show most Americans don’t fly every year. Even fewer people fly today.

Some people, like me, hate flying. It got me thinking: Is there a better way to travel?

I decided to explore the solution in the latest episode of the podcast Limits of Error.

Started by watching us board the plane. We spend a lot of time on this. Most airlines use so-called block landings. This means landing front-to-back or back-to-front. There is also a window/inside/corridor method. Southwest Airlines, on the other hand, reportedly has the fastest check-in of any major airline, allowing people to claim the first available seat.
However, it turns out there is a faster way. It’s called the Steffen method, after its creator, Jason Steffen, a professor of physics at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
He came up with a model that explains how and where to store luggage when looking for a place.

“We want to spread the seats across the plane for the passengers next to us in line so that when one person gets in line, the next person behind them can get in line.” he says Steffen. “In this case, it was two rows away.”
By placing people two rows apart, “we were able to load and sit at the same time without interfering with each other.”
According to Steffen, this method cuts planting time in half.
Why not use the Steffen method? Strict quality control is required. Steffen also said airlines have so many priority landing groups at the state level that they interfere with the model.
I may change airlines someday.
And maybe planes aren’t for you. Why don’t you go out into nature by car and enjoy the countryside?
If so, here are the statistical models.
I spoke with computer scientist Randy Olson. He created The Last Trip Across America, which was validated by an algorithm, with his Science writer Tracy Stetter.
Let’s say you really want to see America and there are 50 places you want to visit. “There are 10 to 64 possible ways to organize these 50 destinations,” Olson told me. “If you let the computer try and find the best route one by one, it would take him 9.64 times as long as he did 10 in 52 years.”

According to Olson, the key is to use randomness and route optimization. That is, swap the two destinations and measure the new movement. is he short? If so, keep it, else throw it away, try, try, try,” he said. “With my MacBook, it takes minutes to find the best route. It only costs.”
If you really made it through the last trip, you could probably make it in a few weeks, but Olson recommends waiting a month or two to enjoy the scenery.
Grand He drives north from Canyon, through Utah and Idaho, to Wyoming’s Yellowstone National Park. He then heads back south through Colorado and New Mexico to the Alamo in Texas.

Algae are “one of the fastest growing organisms on the planet,” Kim said. “Under ideal conditions, he’s talking a growth rate of more than a foot per day. So it can produce a lot of biomass that needs to be converted into bioenergy.”
Although the initial results of experiments with seaweed are encouraging, using seaweed as a primary energy source is not immediately feasible. It’s not too much.
Algae can account for “about one-third of energy use in the United States,” says Kim. “You’re going to need a lot of algae and it takes up a lot of space in the ocean, but there’s a lot of it in the open ocean. If you compare that to fossil fuels, I mean it’s a much better alternative. .”
If you want to find the perfect way to travel, you should listen to this episode. I know what happened when I called someone who likes to travel by bus. It turns out that finding them is not easy.

The 10 best trips for 2022

After some very complicated traveling years, we hope that this 2022 will be the time to pick up the calendar and start looking at dates in order to fit in all the trips we have dreamed of for so long.
Although we know that like any list, all the options are very subjective and depend a lot on each one of us, we wanted to make a list with what we think are some of the  10 best trips for 2022 , with all the practical information to organize them in the best way possible. most comfortable and secure way, without missing anything important from each country or region you visit.

Keep in mind that these destinations are chosen from various points of view but at no time have we assessed the global health situation that we are experiencing or the current situation of each of the countries at a particular level, so choosing them or not for a future trip , will depend entirely on the evolution of the pandemic in the coming months.
At the moment, we are still dreaming and keeping our fingers crossed that this year will bring us some of the best trips for 2022.

1. Colombia

Colombia, located in the extreme north of South America, has everything a traveler dreams of finding in a country. Incredible natural landscapes, archaeological sites, beautiful colonial towns and cities as well as perfect areas and islands to relax on their idyllic beaches after a great trip.
During a route around the country of about 3 weeks, in which you can combine bus transfers with the plane and renting a car, to get lost in areas such as the Coffee Region, you will get to know many of the  essential places to see in Colombia among which are incredible sites such as the Cocora Valley, Cartagena de Indias, Guatapé, the Tatacoa desert or San Agustín, among many others.
We know that one of the concerns of many tourists when traveling to Colombia is the issue of security. In our case and after more than a month touring the country, we can assure you that at no time did we have a setback or a feeling of insecurity, although as is logical, you always have to have common sense and in cities like Bogotá or Medellín, moving around the most touristic areas.

2. New Zealand

New Zealand is one of those unique destinations in the world where you can enjoy nature in its wildest state and landscapes of extreme beauty, which we are sure will leave you speechless.
Prepared to the smallest detail to travel on wheels, we cannot forget that this is one of the best motorhome trips in the world , although New Zealand is also known for being a calm and very safe country.
To complete this list of essential places to see in New Zealand , we advise you to make a route of between 3 and 4 weeks through the two islands, starting with the North Island and then crossing by ferry to the South Island.

3. Greece

Greece, the cradle of the current western civilization, is another of the best trips for 2022 . Although there are hundreds of combinations that you can make in the country, we recommend dividing your trip into two very different stages, but no less spectacular for that: Peninsular Greece and the Greek Islands.
The route through the peninsula normally begins in Athens, which has its great jewel in the Parthenon, and then goes through different archaeological sites of Ancient Greece such as Olympia, Corinth, Epidaurus, Mycenae and the incredible Delphi.
The final touch of this itinerary is provided by the Meteora Monasteries, located in stone colossi over 600 meters high, which we are sure will leave you speechless.
Once Peninsular Greece is over, you can take a ferry to spend a few quiet days in some of the best Greek Islands that form a great mosaic of colors with their turquoise waters and beautiful villages with white houses.

In addition to knowing all these essential places to see in Greece , this trip will allow you to enjoy its magnificent gastronomy, located among the best in the world.

5. Mexico

We could say that Mexico is one of the most beautiful countries in the world and also one of the best trips for 2022 , in addition to having one of the best cuisines on the planet.
A route through the country could start in its capital, Mexico City, and then tour by bus some of the most beautiful colonial cities in the country such as San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Zacatecas or Guadalajara.
This area, and in general the entire country, have a reputation for being dangerous, but after our experience traveling for a month and a half on our own, we have to say that at no time during the days we spent in Mexico did we have any sense of danger, it is Furthermore, we always moved with the camera and mobile phones in hand and we felt totally safe. In addition, from what we talked to several locals and we intuited, insecurity is more focused on the north and usually due to drug trafficking issues, so tourism, in general, is not affected.
After completing the visit to some of the colonial cities, a good option is to take a plane or bus to the Chiapas area to visit the beautiful San Cristóbal de las Casas and of course, its surroundings.
And if you have more time in thisMexico on your own you can go to Oaxaca or follow the route by rental car through the states of Campeche, Quintana Roo and Yucatán, which include some of the best places to visit in Mexico  since the spectacular ancient cities are located in this most touristic area. maya, fantastic cenotes and beaches with transparent waters where you can spend the last days of the trip in a relaxed way.
